Russian Numbers - How to Count from 1 to 100

Learning Russian numbers is essential for everyday life—prices, ages, dates, and counting in Russian pop up everywhere. Whether you're learning Russian for travel, work, or fun, this guide will teach you Russian numbers 1 to 100, ordinal numbers, and how to use them in real situations like saying your age or asking "how much?".

If you're just starting out, pair this with our Russian alphabet guide and essential Russian keywords for a solid foundation.

Counting in Russian: 20-100

For counting in Russian from 21-99, say the tens (двадцать, тридцать, сорок...) then add the digit 1-9. Example: 25 = двадцать пять (twenty-five).

  • 30 тридцать (TREE-tsat')
  • 40 сорок (SO-rak)
  • 50 пятьдесят (pyat-de-SYAT)
  • 60 шестьдесят (shes-de-SYAT)
  • 70 семьдесят (syem-de-SYAT)
  • 80 восемьдесят (vo-syem-de-SYAT)
  • 90 девяносто (de-vya-NOS-ta)
  • 100 сто (sto)

Tip: To say your age in Russian, use Мне + number + лет (or год/года—see our how to talk about yourself guide). Example: Мне двадцать пять лет = I'm 25 years old.

Ordinal Numbers (First, Second, Third...)

Ordinal Russian numbers change by gender. Examples: первый/первая/первое (first), второй/вторая/второе (second), третий/третья/третье (third). Use them for dates, floors, and order.
